Mt. St. Helens Brochure

I am still fascinated with Mt. St. Helens - even after all these years since the great eruption (May 18, 1981). I drove with my family to the top of the hill behind my house and watched in fascination as the volcanic cloud grew and enveloped the landscape.

Whenever I find something related to this event, I grab it - like this brochure I found in the recycle bin at my old storage unit.

Sheet Music - Found at Goodwill

Why would someone get rid of this treasure?
It was at the Goodwill Outlet Store, which means if it hadn't been sold ... it would have been shredded, or bundled and shipped to a foreign country.

I just HAD to rescue Dale Evans and Roy Rogers!!

Join us over at Al's "Sunday Scans" - and show us your treasures!

The Little Leather Library Corporation of New York was the first company to mass-market inexpensive books in the United States. The corporation, founded in 1916 by Albert Boni, Harry Scherman and Maxwell Sackheim, made available a wide variety of classics by many popular authors in miniature editions. The 101 books in this collection are 3" x 4" in size, bound in imitation leather, and characteristic of the Redcroft edition published between 1920-1924.

I rescued these delightful miniature books out of a bin at the Goodwill Outlet Store this past summer. The next stop for these books would have been the shredder.

Linking up with Al's "Sunday Scans"!

The Chateaux of the Loire - Found at Goodwill

I almost passed by this small hardback book,
wrapped as it was in a handmade jacket ...

Until I picked it up out of the bin, and looked at the cover underneath.

Copyright 1924!

The book is filled with black and white photos, as well as text describing the various chateaus found along the Loire river in France.

And maps!
This is the only page of the book that is in color.

I am enjoying this book so much.
Maybe someday I will follow this map!
